Saudi ConTech, Sparkbird, and WZMH Architects

Saudi ConTech is proud to announce an innovative collaboration with Sparkbird and WZMH Architects, uniting global expertise with local knowledge to transform the Architectural-Engineering-Construction (AEC) industry in Saudi Arabia. This partnership is poised to deliver cutting-edge solutions that align with Saudi Vision 2030’s ambitious goals for sustainable and efficient infrastructure development.

About Our Partners

Sparkbird focuses on developing innovative solutions for the built environment. By integrating off-site construction methods, IoT-enabled smart buildings, and new construction techniques, Sparkbird is committed to reducing energy and material consumption while driving greater efficiency.

WZMH Architects, an award-winning architectural firm based in Toronto, has been creating iconic, sustainable, and innovative structures for over 60 years. Known for designing landmarks such as the CN Tower and the Royal Bank Plaza, WZMH has built a legacy of impactful projects across Canada, the United States, Europe, Asia, and the Middle East. Their approach combines creativity, technical expertise, and a commitment to sustainable practices, making them a global leader in architectural design.

Together, this collaboration seeks to redefine how the world approaches construction, focusing on three key innovation areas—or “Buckets.”

Three Buckets of Innovation

1. Pilot Testing of Groundbreaking Products

This collaboration will bring pioneering products to life through pilot projects designed to demonstrate their real-world potential. Examples include:

  • Intelligent Structural Panels and Speedstac (Concrete and Mass Timber versions); innovations aimed at improving construction efficiency and sustainability.

  • These pilot projects will include mockups to attract interest from real estate developers, construction companies, and government agencies, showcasing the tangible benefits of these advanced solutions.

By enabling early-stage deployment and testing, the partnership provides a platform for industry stakeholders to witness firsthand the transformative potential of these technologies.

2. Research and Development (R&D)

Our partnership will focus on advancing groundbreaking concepts like Ska-ana, Carbonlock, and Doton. By collaborating with universities, developers, and government agencies in Saudi Arabia, we will:

  • Conduct large-scale testing to validate the viability of these ideas.

  • Explore sustainable solutions that address the construction industry's most pressing challenges.

This R&D effort will not only accelerate innovation but also contribute to Saudi Arabia’s leadership in global construction technology development.

3. Exploring the Creation of a Venture Studio

The partnership envisions establishing the Sparkbird Saudi Arabia Venture Studio - a dedicated innovation hub to develop and refine groundbreaking products. Key objectives include:

  • Securing financial support to launch the studio.

  • Creating a collaborative space for local and global experts to co-develop solutions like CITYsense, 1-Wale, and the ThermoCrete Frame.

This venture studio will serve as a beacon for innovation, enabling Saudi Arabia to nurture homegrown talent while fostering global collaboration.

A Legacy of Innovation

WZMH Architects and Sparkbird share a rich history of project success in Saudi Arabia, including the master planning of King Abdulaziz University in Jeddah during the 1980s. Returning to the Kingdom under the banner of Saudi ConTech, this partnership aims to build on that legacy and lead the charge toward sustainable, efficient, and transformative AEC solutions.

Building the Future Together

This collaboration goes beyond developing new technologies—it’s about creating a future where innovation, sustainability, and efficiency redefine how we build. Guided by the ambitious goals of Saudi Vision 2030, we are excited to pioneer advancements that will shape the construction industry in Saudi Arabia and inspire progress worldwide.

Stay tuned as we embark on this transformative journey.
